New Year’s Day Brunch at the Osceola Lake Inn…

What started as a casual New Year’s Day neighborhood potluck turned out to be anything but casual.

Fiona and Shawna opened the doors of the Osceola Lake Inn and welcomed neighbors into a space that immediately felt warm, thoughtful, and full of intention. Instead of just hosting, they went all in. They cooked an incredible meal, decorated the Inn beautifully, and somehow made everyone feel instantly comfortable, like we were exactly where we were supposed to be.

They even had activities planned. Not the awkward kind, but the genuinely fun and meaningful kind. Group and individual time capsules, creative projects, and moments built in to reflect on the year behind us and think about what we’re carrying forward. There was a lot of laughter, plenty of good food, and the kind of conversation that happens when people actually slow down together.

The brunch also gave everyone a chance to see just how much care and work Fiona and Shawna have poured into the Inn and the surrounding grounds. Every space feels intentional and lived in, designed not just to be beautiful, but to be shared. Just as importantly, it gave neighbors the chance to really meet one another, many for the first time.

The sense of community they are building at the Osceola Lake Inn feels rare and really needed. It’s rooted in generosity, openness, and the simple idea that bringing people together matters. The afternoon was full of good conversation, new connections, and the beginning of relationships that will last far beyond the holiday.

It was a meaningful and hopeful way to start the new year, and a great example of how the Osceola Lake Inn is growing into a true community space. I can’t wait to see what Fiona and Shawna do next, and I promise to keep you all in the loop.
