“Amanda is amazing! We wanted a very laid back, funny, sarcastic elopement and that is exactly what we got! She would be my first recommendation to anyone looking to elope or have an intimate wedding!”

“Amanda was an amazing photographer and participant to have at our elopement. Getting photographed is not my favorite past time, but she made the experience fun and relaxing. She asked for our input and listened to what we wanted while also giving us some really wonderful ideas. She clearly has impressive knowledge of photography, and it shows in how relaxed she can make her subjects. She also was one of our witnesses and while we had only just met her, she became a quick friend and someone we were happy to have as a part of our ceremony!
We would recommend her for any photography needs, and especially for those who are a little camera shy.”

Over the years I have put myself through the photography wringer.  As an overachiever and a people pleaser, I have contorted myself to be exactly what everyone else wanted.  This helped me build great technical skills and adaptability, but oftentimes starved me of the parts of photography that light me up inside. Even while photographing hundreds of events in my work-life I still found myself craving meaningful photography in my personal time.

A friend expressing fear or insecurity about their changing body would make my heart flutter with the desire to show them how gorgeous they are through boudoir photography.  A friend’s new baby would send me flying over to capture the joy and the beauty of their family growing.  And I wondered how I was still craving this while working full time in the field.  I realized that my passion is to use photography as a tool to share the beauty I see in people back with them.

The Living Wilds is my passion project to do just that.

I’m a whole-hearted love factory of an introvert, and the more emotional and mental space I have to settle into that, the better.  My dream is to be asked to photograph a wedding in complete silence— being allowed to fully settle into the role of observer and experience and translate that magic into images.

I want to make art that feels like the moment you lived it, without the worries or the insecurities, but as the purest form of its joy.

Especially in the world of weddings there is so much pressure to capture all of the key shots, it leaves little space to be open to the unique beauty that develops in the background.  These subtle moments are not the star of the show, but I believe that they are what our hearts notice and remember.  They capture the feeling.  And I don’t believe someone should have to choose between the two when it comes to memories.

My passion is capturing those subtle and often unseen moments.  I will notice the little things.  I hope to give you that photo of your father quietly tearing up when he thinks no-one is looking that fills your heart with love, or of your grandparents stealing a knowing look at each other that makes you giggle.

Kind Words…

“We were so fortunate to have Amanda as our wedding photographer. She is professional, laid back, and so much fun all at the same time. We absolutely love our photos and wouldn't change a thing :)”

“Made me feel like a beautiful bride. We appreciated the flexibility and willingness to adventure into the weather on the mountain. We felt like we were in great hands. Thank you!!”
